If You Love Her, Treat Her Well: Self-Care

Self-care corresponds to self-love. 1 Corinthians 13:4-8 NIV reveals the true definition of love, which is where true self-care stems from.  God’s Love makes us well-rounded individuals, which allows us to live with integrity. If you love her treat her well sounds like a easy slogan or concept to grasp; in reality it can be a hard concept to grasp. It’s one of those concepts that’s easier said than done.

When you love who you are, you feel more willing to treat yourself well. Not to just treat yourself to material things, but you should only consider material possessions as rewards for your growth not to feel a void within. I like to define self-care as taking care of self with the goal of establishing true fulfillment of self. Many people talk about self-care, but there are different ways to practice self-care making sure you are well balanced.  There are five ways to practice self-care emotionally,  mentally, spiritually, physically, and financially.

It’s apart the American culture to promote and collect material possessions because we are business oriented country; so we are taught only from a visional perspective that gaining more material possessions is the true definition of to taking care of ourselves.

We have many people walking around not knowing the true way to practice self-care well-roundedly.  Self-care was something I struggled with for a while also because I had a lot of the bad habits and routines that did not serve me well.   In fact, I was confusing the concept of gluttony with self-care! Thank God he is a healer!  Those with big hearts tend to put themselves before others, which sounds like the right thing to do.

It can be the wrong thing to do when you are in a position with nothing to give to anyone. We have to learn to put ourselves first making sure we are well equipped to serve God’s kingdom! Self-care is very vital to me and I am finally at a place in my life where I can revamp my new definition of self-care while implementing it more in my life that it becomes more of an lifestyle than a goal!

Here are fives ways God’s Love promotes the true essences of self-care:

1.It Is Not Easily Angered, It Keeps No Record Of Wrongs

Emotionally, we are not taught in our routined daily lives how to take care of ourselves selves. I would like to think emotional self care as not allowing our emotions to be a bleak to our identity in Christ.

Not attending to our own emotional needs allows us to depend on others, who do not have the capacity to care for us emotionally thats fulfilling. It also allows us to get a in state feeling hopeless, which goes against the spirit of the Lord. We are naturally hopeful beings and anything outside of hope is working against our purpose in life.

Taking care of yourself emotionally is accepting the fact that we are humans and we will make many mistakes. We have to learn how to choose to embrace our mistakes as a way to gain wisdom.  Don’t allow yourself to feel guilty for past mistakes.

Practicing emotional self-care is being attentive to your emotions and acknowledging how you feel because it leads to deliverance. Allow God to free you today! It’s possible! Mark 9:23 CEV

2.Love Does Not Delight In Evil But Rejoices With The Truth

Spiritually we are beings who are meant thrive in positivity. We are not meant to thrive in evil, but it’s our sin and fleshy patterns that keep us bounded. The spirit of the Lord is of hope, truth, and love. Taking care of yourself spiritually allows you to become liberated within that creates a pathway to peace and freedom.

Spiritual growth is a true sign of practicing spiritual self-care through prayer and meditation. You are connecting with God and your higher self. Operating in your higher self allows you rejoice in truth because of Gods grace and love. You began to discover just how Gods love and grace saved you for eternity. Rejoice in truth because it was the truth that’s saved your soul.

3.It Always Protects, Always Trusts, Always Hopes, Always Perseveres

Mentally, we must learn how to protect our thoughts. Began to trust the thoughts of our higher self and not our fleshy filled self. When we protect our thoughts with positive affirmations and God’s word. We began to develop a sense of hope again, which gives us fuel to develop a spirit of perseverance.

Remember our thoughts contribute to our manifestation on earth. When we consume negative thoughts we produce negative. When we consume positive thoughts, we have now placed ourselves at a advantage of manifesting good in our lives. Best way to take care our mental is to rest in a peaceful and still atmosphere where you become one with God the creator. Rest is also vital to your mental health.

4.Love Never Fails. But Where There Are Prophecies, They Will Cease

Your body is God’s temple and you must care about your physical health. Don’t allow diseases to claim your body. Begin to feed yourself the appropriate nutrients that nurtures the body to produce energy. Physically, experiencing the love of taking care of self is a wonderful to enjoy. Physically, it is best to treat yourself to some physical exercises.

If you don’t like to exercise then participate in some active exercise like dancing, where you are moving and having fun.  God’s Love never fails in fact, his helps us to change the physical by improving our mental so our physical can be healed.

Since our bodies is God’s temple we must take honor in understanding that our bodies is what keeps us moving in this world. It’s time to speak to your body prophetically that you will care more about your physical well- being today. All God’s needs you to do is take one step at a time and he will guide through the rest.

5.Where There Are Tongues, They Will Be Stilled; Where There is Knowledge, It Will Pass Away

Financially, it is so easy to be deceived by our own eyes thinking we can afford more than we know we can. We may even come from a family that values the concept of impressing others in order to fit with the Jones. What ever issue that crosses your path financially, you must want must better for yourself in order your finances to change.

We must allow ourselves to face our finances by beginning to plan for future goals in life, or began to build for your legacy for your family. Where you gain more knowledge about how to take care of your financials, you won’t have to worry about your income being tied to creditors.  I am in the process of taking care my finances as we speak. Taking it one step at time because my future family deserves to experience the best life God intended for us to have. Your family does too!

I allowed God to free me from a poverty mindset, where I no longer fear lack of loss. God is definitely our provider, if you have not experienced him yet in this area. He will show you soon! Such a wonderful feeling.

God’s Love allows us to want to change for the better and self-care is one concept he promotes a lot. Self-care can be hard when you don’t have a routine in place to keep you going. Gaining a routine for myself was something that disfavored the most. It may because it was expected of me.  I’m not sure. What I do know that having a routine is vital for practice self-care well roundly because we must make sure that we our  nurture our mind, body, soul, and spirit. They all will work together if a routine is implemented.

Pick a routine that works for you and don’t change it unless life requires you too. Change is necessary for our spiritual growth. Your routine may be something that will change your life and your family’s.

In 1 Corinthians 13:11-13 NIV reveals, “When I was a child, I talked like a child, I thought like a child, I reasoned like a child. When I became a man, I put the ways of childhood behind me. For now we see only a reflection as in a mirror; then we shall see face to face. Now I know in part; then I shall know fully, even as I am fully known. And now these three remain: faith, hope and love. But the greatest of these is love.”

I would like to sum this verse up by saying when we know better we do better! I hope today is the day you join me with allowing God’s love to allow you to take care of yourself  well-roundedly.
